The best value for our money was renting a driver (essentially a taxi driver in a very old VW Rabbit with no AC) to take us around.

No one told us that places value cash over card which was slightly annoying when it came to payment of things.

Prayer wheels are a thing (these are at the Namo Buddha Temple and can vary in simple to elaborate designs. Our entry and exit of each town/village was marked by turning the many prayer wheels until the next. I ended up purchasing a small one for myself at the Boudhanath Stupa on our last few hours in Kathmandu. It has the Sanskrit mantra ‘Om mani padme hum’ on it.

If your wondering if my leather jacket came on the trek, it didn’t. That outfit stayed in the city until my return.

It was sunny, humid and stopped by @bellsandbirds at @raffleshotelsingapore before heading over across the street to have some #chickenrice @singsweekee.sg #chromenails by @agnesg.nailsjambox cleaned up the Everest dryness and dirt before more shopping around Payar Lebar Quarter.
Everest Base Camp: Day 4 onwards… At #Dingboche Everest Base Camp: Day 4 onwards…

At #Dingboche (4350 m) we aclimizized for two days - under to coldest conditions. It’s also where we started an altitude sickness medication called Dimox - which can give you vivid dreams, tingling in your hands and feet (so much so that your feet can go ice cold and you start to wonder if your loosing circulation) True story though. I piled on two pairs of @darntoughvermont socks and @rab.equipment down slippers until I noticed a difference three hours later.

No real trees grow past 4000m, so both the terrain (sand/rock) and the vegetation (little shrubs) is completely different. Because everything needs to be carried by porters up the mountain, there are minimal luxuries in tea houses including heat in rooms, individual toilets/sinks/showers which of course brought their own challenges. Somewhere past 4000m, I developed the stubborn khumbu cough (probably from the dust, not helped by the cold), a decrease in appetite and not sleeping throughout the night.

From Dingboche we ascended up to Lobouche (4910 m). The incline was not as steep, so you think you could go fast, but the attitude slows you down. On our way to Lobouche we visited the memorial site for climbers who lost their lives on #Everest.

After one night, we headed to Gorakshep (5180 m), making it to Everest Base Camp in the afternoon.

8 days up with only three days to descend: Pheriche (4200 m) to Namche Bazaar (3400 m) and then to Lukla (2840 m). Caught one of the last flights out to #Kathmandu from Lukla due to the weather.

Heading over to #Singapore tonight.
